Faith, Hope, & Action
Longtime Philomath residents Beau and Sally Vencill were critically injured in a car accident in May 2008. With the support of their two sons, Michael and Colin, they are enduring a long and difficult recovery process. This website was developed as a tool to provide information for the numerous friends and family who would like to keep up to date on the well-loved family.
Information about Beau and Sally:
Beau and Sally Vencill have lived in Corvallis since 1965. They were married right after high school and moved to Corvallis for Beau to attend OSU. Beau subsequently got a job with a small excavation company and became highly skilled at operating a backhoe. He could make that machine dance! He eventually purchased the business from the former owner and ran Vencill Excavating for many years. Sally kept the books and did the billing.
They bought 5 acres off of Llewelyn Rd South of Corvallis and have lived there since the early 1970’s.
When interest rates escalated in the early 1980’s and the building industry effectively shut down, Beau got a job with the City of Philomath operating their heavy equipment. Being the likeable, intelligent guy that he is he quickly moved up the ladder and eventually became the Public Works Director.
Their two sons, Michael and Colin, grew up and graduated from Corvallis Schools. Michael attended Linn Benton and OSU. Colin just recently (2008) graduated from OSU. Both boys live in the Corvallis area. Michael also works for the City of Philomath.
Sally grew up in Hood River and Beau in Cascade Locks. They went to the combined high school of Wyeast and became High School sweethearts. Sally parents operated a large apple and pear orchard near Hood River.
Sally worked for many years on the Elections Board and was recently employed by the Corvallis School District.
They were coming home from a weekend spent with family in Hood River when their car left the road, went over a 40’ embankment, hit a power pole and caught on fire. They are both in intensive care at Emanuel Hospital in Portland. Sally is recovering from burns and is at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. Beau is still on a respirator and is making some slow improvement.
Beau loves to hunt, fish, camp with his boys. His Mother taught him to play the guitar at a young age. He sang and played by ear. Both boys share his interest in music.
Sally always took great delight in her 3 younger step brothers and sister. They came to stay with her often in Corvallis as well as the children of Beau’s brother, Dan. She is interested in politics, likes to read and decorate.
